Assembléon allows Neways to execute incoming orders the same day

Assembléon’s AX-501 and M-Series have been a strategic benefit to Dutch electronic manufacturing services provider Neways. The company, a specialist in high-tech new product development, manages to deliver quality while at the same time achieving productivity and capacity.

Neways is a Dutch electronic manufacturing services provider to the telecommunications, medical, defense, aerospace and automotive industries.

Highest quality, minimal lead times and total flexibility

To succeed in these markets, Neways must balance uncompromisingly high quality standards with fast, smooth production. With normal lead times being two to three days and – in emergencies – a couple of hours, flexibility is vital and production schedules are always subject to short-notice change.

The Assembléon lines have proved perfectly suited to Neways’ demanding production environment. High accuracy and low reject-rates are a given. And thanks to its flexibility - its ability to achieve short changeover times - Neways can process and dispatch on the same day, and remain price-competitive.

Meeting the challenge with AX-501 and M-Series

The AX-501’s capacity, speed and reliability meet industry needs for larger batches, with two fulltime operators employed to keep up with output at times. Clustering allows efficient use of the AX-501 for small batches. Its flexibility and resilience enables incremental change, too. Successful machine upgrades were possible because old and new equipment and software could be run simultaneously, without new feeders and additional training.

Compared with the previous line, Neways’ M-Series machines double the output, handle a larger component range and are so reliable they can run smoothly, if unmanned for short periods. Assembléon’s offline vision tool minimizes changeover times on the M-Series further, making six orders a day achievable. Neways is also developing cluster programs for its M-Series line, enabling operation by just one person.

The machines’ powerful combination of benefits gives Neways’ customers more reason to ensure their products are manufactured in Western Europe.

Neways is also highly impressed with Assembléon’s responsiveness and willingness to be involved in the planning and preparations, as well as their informal yet professional approach. Regular audits to help identify problems or learn from mistakes were also much appreciated.
