Assembléon

New, low priced Pick & Place machine

Assembléon launches new, low priced Pick & Place machine for high mix, small batch production

Veldhoven (The Netherlands), April 20, 2007

The competitively priced Opal FP-XII and Opal FP Line-XII are turnkey systems for stand-alone and line-balancing applications.

After last years successful launch of the low priced Opal-XII, Assembléon now introduces the Opal FP-XII fine-pitch Pick & Place in the same low price segment. This new machine places 01005, fine-pitch and odd-form components with accuracy as good as 30 microns. The Opal FP-XII works in stand-alone and line-balancing applications with placement rates up to 6,800 components per hour. Sharing a common platform with Assembléon’s other X-Series machines, it is easy to integrate into scalable lines. Prices start at EUR 89,000.

The Opal FP-XII incorporates two independent super-fine servo-controlled heads with high-resolution encoders. The machine takes odd-form components up to 45 x 100 mm (up to 20 mm high). It will be supplied with operator monitor, board clamping system with automatic width adjustment, nozzle exchange system and feeder lock verification.

Turnkey Opal FP Line-XII system

The turnkey Opal FP Line-XII is a complete line with excellent placement rate and accuracy. The line comprises the new Opal FP-XII fine-pitch placer and an Opal-XII machine with a wide range of expansion possibilities. The Opal FP-XII has two super-fine placement heads, while the Opal-XII has four heads as standard (optionally eight). Both machines include operator monitor and panel, board clamping system with automatic width adjustment, nozzle exchange system and feeder lock verification.

This basic configuration works in high mix, small batches, and is easily expanded later. The Opal-XII machine places up to 11,600 cph with four heads or optionally 17,700 cph with eight heads. Balanced line performance for the Opal FP Line-XII is upgradeable to 24,500 cph. Prices start at 149,000 euro.
The turnkey systems come complete with centralized network database, on-machine inventory tracking and remote diagnostics. They include empty tape waste bins, fiducial recovery function, bad mark sensing, machine optimizer, CAD2CAD software conversion and a Management Information System (MIS).

X-Series for lean manufacturing

The Assembléon X-Series (Opal-XII, Opal FP-XII, Topaz-XII and Emerald-XII) is a cost-effective range of Pick & Place solutions for lean manufacturing. Offering benefits like fast ramp-up of new applications, they speed the route from CAD data to first products. Over 10 years of continuous development has led to an installed base of over 7,000 systems worldwide.

The common platform has standard dimensions, so units can be easily moved in and out of lines to match changing production requirements. Lines can be optimized for high feeder counts, large boards and wide component ranges – modules are simply mixed and matched to suit.
