Assembléon to address sustainability and flexible changeovers at NEPCON South China and IPC Midwest
Veldhoven (Netherlands), 2 August 2011
For this autumn's SMT trade shows in the USA and China, pick & place solution provider Assembléon will focus on the regional characteristics of PCB assembly with fitting answers. The company will highlight its high volume A-Series line up at the NEPCON South-China, from August 30th to September 2nd in Shenzhen, while addressing the flexibility in changeovers of its M-Series at the IPC Midwest show in Illinois, USA, on the 21st and 22nd of September. "Although Assembléon is a global company, it is clear that there are different needs per region while placing components on PCBs", says Jeroen de Groot, marketing director for Assembléon. "Our A-Series perfectly fits to environments where a predictable and high output of reliable products is valued. It is therefore still our most successful product in China. In the USA we see our M-Series sales grow due to the flexibility of these machines, enabling manufacturers to combine variable batch sizes per day. This helps them to deliver on commitment in dynamic environments. Batch sizes are starting to vary more and more while the pressure on just-in-time delivery is increasing, and the M-Series in combination with our software solution can very well serve this development."
Assembléon's AX-501 with Twin Placement Robot
Sustainable outputs at NEPCON South China
Showcasing the AX-501 and the AX-201 at the NEPCON in Shenzhen, Assembléon offers a production line to place components ranging from 01005 to 130 by 79mm and 40 mm in height at speeds of 121,000 components per hour (IPC speed) at less than 10 DPM. In combination with the newly released Twin Placement Robot (TPR) the AX-501 can place IC's at chip shooting speed with an accuracy of 25 microns. This makes this pick & place machine a true single solution for applications like Package-on-Package (PoP), DRAM and modules manufacturing. Next to its technical capabilities, Assembléon also focuses on another important value of the A-Series; the low electricity consumption. Recently, the company sold its 1000th A-Series product since the introduction. Not only accumulating to up to 15,000 placement solutions world-wide, but also resulting in a total energy saving of 50 million kilowatt-hours per year. De Groot: "That is the energy produced by solar panels covering 60 times the Bird's Nest, China's national stadium in Beijing. And reducing the SMT industry's carbon footprint by more than 100.000 tons of CO2 per year."
Assembléon's MC-24X with ATS
Reducing changeover time at IPC Midwest
How to manufacture an increasing number of different products per day? That's a key question for many of today's electronics manufacturers. Dynamics in product variety (in terms of type and batch size) call for flexible SMT solutions that can help to meet deadlines. At the IPC Midwest, Assembléon shows the combination of the high speed multifunctional MC-24X and an end-of-line MC-1 solution (ATS version). With a maximum of 222 intelligent tape feeders, this line is fit to handle 01005 to 100 by 45mm components at a maximum height of 15mm with speeds up to 47,000 components per hour (IPC). With the 'feeder anywhere' feature, the fast loading intelligent feeders can put in any available slot in the machine, reducing changeover time to just minutes, which is extremely beneficial when dealing with rush orders. "Supported by smart NPI solutions, offline preparation time can be reduced by 30% as well. This helps manufacturers to start producing faster and at a higher quality level to safeguard timely deliveries to their customers", concludes De Groot.
